Airport News

The first phase of the construction of an automated train system at the airport is scheduled for completion by 2013 and is anticipated to cost US$400-500 million. The system will be an integral part of the infrastructure at the airport and provide a link from the terminals to the Metro light rail system running into the city center.

Transfer Between Terminals

Shuttle buses run continuously between the terminals and the economy car parks.

Driving Directions

The airport has separate exits for east and west destinations, so travelers are advised to plan their route before departing. Major routes with airport exits are I-10 east, SR153 south of Washington, SR202 west and SR143 north.

Car Hire

Advantage, Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Fox, Hertz, National, Payless and Thrifty are among the companies represented in the Rental Car Center at 1805 East Sky Harbor Circle South. All rental car counters are located in the center, which can be reached by taking the car rental shuttle from the airport curb at the baggage claim level. Public Transport

Bus: The airport runs a free shuttle service from all terminals to the Light Rail stop at 44th Street and Washington. Valley Metro (tel: (602) 253 5000 or TTY (602) 251 2039; www.valleymetro.org) runs wheelchair-accessible buses (bus 13 and Red Line) to central Phoenix and surrounding areas. There are several intercity bus and coach companies operating from the airport.

Taxi: Taxis and limousines are available outside the terminals. The taxi companies operating from the airport are Apache Taxi (tel: (480) 557 7000), AAA/Yellow Cab (tel: (480) 888 8888)) and Mayflower Cab (tel: (602) 955 1355). SuperShuttle (tel: (602) 244 9000; www.supershuttle.com) operates 24 hours, daily.
Rail: A free shuttle bus links the terminals with the Phoenix Metro system (tel: (602) 253 5000; www.valleymetro.org), which runs a short distance from the airport; the Metro stop for the airport is 44th Street/Washington. Local fares on the Metro are priced at $1.75 for a single ticket.

Car Parking

There are parking spaces for 30,000 vehicles at the airport. Short-term parking is available in multi-story facilities at terminals 2, 3 and 4. Additional parking is available at the economy car parks, which are served by 24-hour shuttle buses running to all terminals. There are two 24-hour Cell Phone Waiting Lots with 90 spaces each. Information and Help Desks

Information desks are located throughout the terminals. Travelers Aid operates from the chapel in Terminal 4, Level 3 (tel: (602) 244 1346). There are also many Navigator volunteers who can help out with directions and other information.

Airport Facilities

Money and communications: Facilities include ATMs and telephones in all three terminals and a bureau de change in Terminal 4. Free Wireless Internet access is also available.
Eating and drinking: There are restaurants, bars and cafés in all the terminals.
Shopping: There are many shops in all three terminals, as well as duty-free shopping in Terminal 4.
Luggage: A lost property office is situated between Terminals 2 and 3 (tel: (602) 273 3333).
Other facilities: These include pet rest areas, a barber, shoe shine stands, an interfaith chapel and the Phoenix Airport Museum, which has more than 500 works of art and several galleries at the airport. The medical facilities include more than 70 Automated External Defibrillators.

Conference and Business Facilities

Fax and photocopying services are available from the information counters in the terminals. There are no meeting rooms or secretarial services at the airport. The nearby Hilton Phoenix Airport (tel: (480) 894 1600; www1.hilton.com) has a 24-hour business center, wireless Internet access and meeting rooms, including a ballroom, which can accommodate 500 delegates.

Facilities for Disabled Travelers

Facilities include level access and lifts, wheelchair-accessible telephones, adapted toilets and ATMs, as well as TDD and amplified phones. Each terminal has at least one Adult Changing Station (private restroom areas). Hand-controlled hire cars can be provided with advance notice by Avis, Budget, Hertz and National. Disabled parking spaces are reserved for badge holders in all car parks; the shuttles are wheelchair-accessible. There is a Dial-a-Ride bus serving the city (tel: (602) 253 4000 or TTY 1 800 367 8939).
