The airport is situated 3km (2 miles) south of Anchorage.

Airport News

The airport has recently completed a long-term project to expand gate lounges and to install new baggage reclaim systems among various other improvements.

Transfer Between Terminals

A free shuttle bus runs daily 24 hours every 15 minutes between the terminals and the car hire area.

Driving Directions

The airport is clearly signposted from the city center, from which one should take 5th Avenue, turn left onto L Street and Minnesota Drive, then turn left along International Airport Road.

Car Hire

Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Hertz, National, and Thrifty are all represented at the airport. Free shuttle buses link the terminals with the Rental Car Center every 15 minutes.

Public Transport

Bus: The Municipality of Anchorage People Mover bus route 7 (tel: (907) 343 6543; www.muni.org/transit1) runs between the airport and downtown Anchorage and the Dimond Center. Journey time is approximately 20 minutes. Shuttle: A door-to-door shuttle service is offered by Eagle River Shuttle (tel: (907) 694 8888), Shuttle Man (tel: (907) 677 8537) and Talkeetna Shuttle (tel: 1 888 288 6008 in the USA only); there are more shuttles available. Taxi: Taxis are available at each terminal, operated by Alaska Yellow Cab (tel: (907) 222 2222) and Checker Cab (tel: (907) 276 1234). At the South Terminal, the taxi stand is at the ground transportation island, which can be reached via the underground transportation hall or via the pavement outside baggage reclaim. At the North Terminal, the taxi stand is located directly outside the Arrivals hall.

Car Parking

Short-term car parking is available at both terminals; there is a multi-story car park at the South Terminal. Long-term parking is available in close proximity to the South Terminal. Parking information is available from Republic Parking (tel: (907) 243 1532), which also offers a parking service. There is also a free ‘cell phone lot’ for those collecting arriving passengers, and a Park Ride and Fly area, both further away from the terminals.

Information and Help Desks

There are information desks (tel: (907) 266 2526) in both terminals, and tourist information offices (tel: (907) 266 2437 for the South Terminal, 2657 in the North Terminal) in both arrivals halls and the North Terminal transit lounge.

Airport Facilities

Money and communications: There is a bureau de change, ATMs, a post office and a bank.
Eating and drinking: There are restaurants and bars located in both terminals.
Shopping:
Shops include duty-free, located in the North (international) Terminal.
Luggage:
There is a lost property office located on the Departures (upper) level of the South (domestic) Terminal (tel: (907) 266 2623) and a baggage storage facility, also in the South (domestic) Terminal of the Airport on the lower (Arrivals) level opposite baggage reclaim.
Other facilities: The Alaska Native Medical Center has a desk in the South Terminal. There is also a barber shop, and a massage and rest center.

Conference and Business Facilities

There are no business or conference facilities at the airport. The nearby Millennium Alaskan Hotel (tel: (907) 243 2300; www.millenniumhotels.com/millenniumanchorage) has numerous meeting and function rooms, audiovisual equipment, and fax and photocopying facilities. Free wireless Internet is available throughout the terminals.

Facilities for Disabled Travelers

The airport is fully equipped for disabled passengers. Wheelchairs and assistance are available and passengers should contact their airline.
