The airport is located 30km (19 miles) southeast of central Shanghai.

A third terminal, satellite terminal and two additional runways are currently at the planning stage.

Driving Directions

Yingbin Road, which runs through the airport, and Fareast Road, which is west of the airport, respectively link to Shanghai's outer and inner ring roads. The outer ring road joins Pudong International Airport to Hong Qiao International Airport (journey time: 1 hour). The inner ring road leads to the People's Square/Shanghai city center.

Car Hire

Self-drive cars are available, although most visitors choose to hire a car with a driver (often from their hotel) on a daily or weekly basis.

Public Transport

Bus: There are several bus routes which serve different areas of Shanghai. Airport bus No.1 connects Pudong International Airport with Hong Qiao International Airport (journey time: 30-40 minutes). Other routes run to City Air Terminal (Jingan temple), Galaxy Hotel, Hongkou Football Stadium, Zhongshan Park, LingangXin Cheng and Shanghai South Railway Station. Taxi: Taxis are available and passengers should make sure the driver uses the meter; passengers must join the correct queue for the desired destination; queues are determined by journey duration (journey time to Shanghai: 25-40 minutes).
Rail: The Maglev Train (tel: (21) 2890 7777; www.smtdc.com/en), a magnetic levitation train and the fastest in the world, connects the airport with metro line No.2 at Longyang station (journey time: 8 minutes). Trains run every 15 minutes between 0700-2100. The station is situated next to the airport and is connected to the terminal by a bridge. Underground metro line no. 2 links Pudong and Hong Qiao International airports.

Car Parking

There is a three-floor multi-story car park with space for over 3,000 vehicles and a surface car park for short- and long-term parking in front of the terminal building.

Information and Help Desks

Flight information in English is available within the terminal. The airport has a flight and general information line (tel: (021) 3848 4500). Information counters are located in front of both the Domestic and International security checks.

Airport Facilities

Money and communications: The airport has several banks, bureau de change, as well as a post office, ATMs, telephones and Internet access.
Eating and drinking: There are various restaurants, coffee shops and bars.
Shopping: Shops at the airport include gift shops and duty-free in the Departures hall. There is a shopping mall on the third floor of the terminal.
Luggage: Left-luggage is available in both terminals. A lost and found office can be found between Gates 8 and 9 in International Arrivals (tel: (021) 6834 6324).
Other facilities: There are baby change/feeding rooms. There is a pharmacy in the shopping mall, on the third floor, and nursing rooms in both terminals. Transit beds are available on an hourly basis (see Hotels below).

Conference and Business Facilities

There is a business center located between International and Domestic Arrivals, providing telephones, fax and Internet facilities (tel: (21) 6834 6519). There is also a VIP room, as well as several lounges operated by various airlines at the airport. Jinjiang Inn Pudong Airport Hotel (tel: (21) 6835 3568) offers 24-hour business facilities, including various meeting rooms, telephone, fax and photocopying facilities. Facilities for Disabled Travelers

There are disabled toilets as well as lifts and ramps to provide easy access for disabled travelers. Passengers requiring wheelchairs and special assistance should inform their airline prior to travel. TDD telephones are available in the passenger terminal.
