Airport Information
Location
The airport is situated 12km (8 miles) west of Edinburgh.
Airport News
The new tram link between Edinburgh Airport and the city center is now expected to be operational by 2014.
Driving Directions
The airport is located just off the A8 heading west from the center of Edinburgh. The well-signposted access road turns north off the A8 between the Gogar and Newbridge roundabouts.
Car Hire
Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Europcar, Hertz, National and Thrifty all have desks located in the Domestic Arrivals hall. Pre-booked cars from some companies not located at the airport can be contacted on the courtesy telephone located between Domestic Arrivals and check-in. There is a new car rental center linked to the terminal by a covered walkway.
Public Transport
Bus: Frequent 24-hour bus services run from the bus station outside Domestic Arrivals to the central Edinburgh bus terminus at Waverley Bridge, also stopping at Edinburgh Haymarket rail station. The Airlink 100 express service operates daily between 0420-0000 (tel: (0131) 555 6363; www.flybybus.com), while during the night the N22 operates at 30-minute intervals. Bus 35 operates from Ocean Terminal via the city center to Edinburgh Airport. For more information on times and fares, or to book tickets, contact Lothian Buses (tel: (0131) 555 6363; www.lothianbuses.co.uk). Tickets are available at a kiosk outside the terminal. Taxi: Taxis are available outside the Arrivals area and from the 'black cab' rank by the coach station. They can be pre-booked from Edinburgh Airport Taxis (tel: (0131) 663 6526; www.edinburghairporttaxis.com) or Executive Onward Travel (tel: (0131) 333 2255).
Car Parking
The short-term car parks are directly in front of the terminal building, with surface or multi-story parking with 2,000 spaces. The ground floor has a two-hour zone with its own entry and exit for speed and convenience. There is a separate area with a two-hour maximum stay for pick-up and set-down. Payment for short-stay car parking is made at the customer service office on the ground floor, or in advance online or by phone with BAA Advance (tel: 0844 335 1000; www.baa.com). The long-term car parks are close-by, served by a free courtesy coach to the terminal. Discounts are available for pre-booked, long-term parking, which can also be done online via the airport's website. Secure parking is also available from Park & Fly (tel: (0131) 333 4111; www.edinburghparkandfly.co.uk), Flying Scot (tel: (0131) 333 3445; www.flyingscotparking.co.uk), Skyparksecure (tel: 0845 4599250; www.skyparksecure.com) and Secure Air Parks (tel: (0131) 333 3377; www.secureairparks.com). A controversial £1 'drop off' charge was imposed in 2010; it is unclear if this will continue.
