Location
The airport is located 16km (10 miles) southeast of Budapest.
Airport News
The new SkyCourt terminal building linking terminals 2A and 2B was completed in March 2011. The project has added an additional 21 boarding gates and self-check-in kiosks, as well as an expansion of existing facilities, including shops and restaurants. Plans are in place for a light rail connection to the city with a station planned for Terminal 2 as part of the wider redevelopment plan.
Transfer Between Terminals
The SkyCourt building links terminals 2A and 2B, and there is a bus link between terminals 1 and 2.
Driving Directions
The airport is located on route 4, just off route M5/E60, and is clearly signposted from Budapest. From the city center, the dedicated Ferihegy High Speed Road facilitates access within 20 minutes.
Car Hire
Avis, Budget, Europcar, Hertz and Sixt all have desks located immediately after customs on the Arrivals levels in both Terminal 2A and Terminal 2B.
Public Transport
Bus: There is an Airport Minibus (tel: (1) 296 8555) service to any address in Budapest; the Airport Minibus desk in the Arrivals hall sells tickets and takes reservations. A pre-pay local express bus 200 runs between the underground metro terminus, Köbánya-Kispest, and the airport terminals; passengers may wish to alight at Deák tér where the three underground lines converge. Bus 93 runs to the same destination from Terminal 1. For more information contact BKV (tel: (1) 258 4636; www.bkv.hu) Taxi: Taxis are available from the airport at the taxi stand, with FÅ‘taxi the main supplier (tel: (1) 222 2222). Maximum fares from the airport are fixed and set by a zoning system.
Regular trains, operated by Hungarian State Railways run between Terminal 1 and Budapest's western railway station (journey time: under 30 minutes). There is a bus link between the station and Terminal 2.
Car Parking
There are short-term and long-term car parks situated at both terminals. There is also a long-term car park with security surveillance at Terminal 2. Parking information is available (tel: (1) 296 8151).
Information and Help Desks
Help desks are situated in Terminals 2. The tourist information desks are located immediately after customs in both terminals.
Airport Facilities
Money and communications: Banking facilities, ATMs and a bureau de change are all available.
Eating and drinking: There are various restaurants and snack bars throughout the airport.
Shopping: There are shops, including duty-free.
Luggage: A lost property service is available (tel: (01) 296 7000). Left-luggage is located in the Arrivals area of Terminal 2B, open daily 24 hours (tel: (01) 296 8802).
Other facilities: There is a chapel in Terminal 2B, and a hotel booking service in Terminal 1. A post office is available, as are childcare facilities and first aid.
Conference and Business Facilities
Business class passengers in Terminal 2B have access to the Cirrus Lounge (tel: (1) 296 5933), which is located on the transit area on the first floor. Facilities include photocopiers, computers, fax, credit card telephones and free Internet access. The Malév Lounge and the Celebi Platinum Lounge are located in the SkyCourt building. In both terminals, there are business centers and VIP lounges with hostess services in various languages, telephone, fax, computers with Internet access, photocopying and an interpreter service. There are two meeting rooms in Terminal 2B; one can accommodate six people, the other between 30-40 people. Free Wi-Fi Internet access is available in both terminals. Meeting rooms are also available at the nearby Hotel Stacio (tel: (29) 353 053; www.hotelstacio.hu).
Facilities for Disabled Travelers
Disabled toilets are located in both terminals. 'Call Point' helpline kiosks are available throughout the terminals. Services are available to help passengers who need assistance boarding or disembarking aircraft and to help passengers with impaired vision. Wheelchairs are available at the airport help desks, on request. An ambulance service is also available. Passengers should contact their airline in advance for assistance.
