Driving Directions
The airport is located just off Autobahn (motorway) A8 Karlsruhe-Munich. Take the exit Stuttgart-Flughafen (no.53), or Bundesstrasse B27, and follow the signs for either Arrivals (Ankunft) or Departures (Abflug). See the airport's website for detailed maps.
Car Hire
Car hire companies include Avis, Europcar, Hertz, Enterprise Rent A Car and Sixt; agencies are located in Terminal 3, Level 2 (Arrivals).
Public Transport
Bus: There are several direct bus links (tel: (711) 66060; www.vvs.de) to destinations in and around Stuttgart, departing from outside Terminal 1 Arrivals level. Journey time to the city center is around 25 minutes. The single fare is €3.40. Taxi: There is a 24-hour taxi service to Stuttgart (journey time: 20 minutes); the taxi rank is situated in front of Terminal 1, Level 3 (Departures).Taxis can be pre-booked on (0711) 551 0000 and (711) 19416.
Rail: The airport is connected to central Stuttgart by commuter trains S2 (Schorndorf) and S3 (Backnang) (tel: (711) 66060; www.vvs.de), which both serve Stuttgart central station (journey time: 30 minutes). Stuttgart central station is served by S-Bahn trains for destinations throughout Stuttgart, and high-speed intercity, express and regional trains to destinations throughout Germany and beyond (tel: (01805) 996 633; www.bahn.de). The S-Bahn station is in Terminal 1 Level 1.
Car Parking
Short-term parking is available in car parks P1 and P3, and the covered garages P4 and P6; for long-term-use car parks P0, P2 (covered), P8 (covered), P10 (covered) and P11 (covered); the first hour of parking in P0 is free. Long-term parking is also available in P4 during the summer holidays and can be reserved in advance (tel: (711) 948 4452). Car parks are open 24 hours. Parking is also available at the P-Hotel car park.
Information and Help Desks
There is a central information and help desk (tel: (711) 22280) in Terminal 3, on Level 2 (Arrivals) with multi-lingual staff. All terminals have information pillars including courtesy telephones for passenger information.
Airport Facilities
Money and communications: Facilities include ATMs and two banks with bureau de change facilities. Both are located in Terminal 1. Telephones and Wi-Fi Internet access are also available throughout the airport.
Eating and drinking: Several restaurants, fast-food outlets, cafes and bars are available at the airport.
Shopping: There are a variety of shops in Terminal 1 and a supermarket in Terminal 2 level 3. Duty-free is available in Terminal 1 level 3 and Terminal 4 level 2.
Luggage: There is a lost property office at the airport (tel: (0711) 948 3355). A porter service is available (tel: (0711) 948 4570).
Other facilities: These include travel agencies, a hairdresser's, a massage point, a visitors’ terrace, car repair service and petrol station. Sightseeing helicopter flights from the airport can also be arranged.
Conference and Business Facilities
Meeting and conference facilities, accommodating up to 400 people, are available at the Wöllhaf Conference and Banqueting Center (tel: (711) 948 2700; www.airport-konferenz.de). Rooms are equipped with Internet access, projectors, a sound system, a variable blackout facility, sound proofing and air conditioning. Meeting and conference facilities are also available at airport hotels, including the Mövenpick Hotel Stuttgart Airport (tel: (711) 553 440; www.moevenpick-stuttgart-airport.com). The main Stuttgart Exhibition Center (tel: (711) 185 600; www.messe-stuttgart.de) is also adjacent to the airport.
Facilities for Disabled Travelers
Assistance for disabled travelers is available from airlines and/or travel agencies, but passengers are required to arrange this in advance. The airport is fully accessible with lifts, ramps and electronic revolving doors that adjust their speed to the respective passenger; wheelchair-accessible toilets are situated on all levels. There are also wheelchair-accessible telephones available. Reserved parking is clearly marked. Europcar provides hire cars for disabled drivers; reservations must be made in advance.
