Location

The airport is situated in the suburb of Ikeja, 22km (14 miles) northwest of Lagos.

Driving Directions

A highway links Murtala Muhammed Airport with the city center. The journey takes 30-60 minutes depending on the traffic.

Car Hire

Avis and Hertz both have desks in the terminal. It is possible to hire a car from most of the big international hotels too.

Please note that fuel shortages often occur in Nigeria, so ensure you have enough petrol to complete your journey. Roads are in poor condition. Take care when traveling on major roads and in traffic jams as robberies can, and do, happen: keep valuables out of sight and keep doors and windows locked. Avoid travel outside cities after dark.

Public Transport

Taxi: Taxis are the easiest and safest way to travel from the airport to the city. Choose one of the yellow taxis outside the terminal (upstairs, outside the departure lounge), check the driver's ID, then tell him where you are going and agree on a fare before setting off.
