Hit the Powder

Start your trip with a guided tour of the mountain. All skiers who can confidently conquer a green run are welcome. The twice-daily tours are complimentary and offer newbies a great perspective on the mountain and how to get around. You'll also want to book a First Tracks ticket so you can enjoy extra time on the slopes before everyone else is up. If you’ve never tried snowboarding, you may also want to take a lesson or hit the terrain park to try a new skill.

The Adventures Don't Stop On The Slopes

From dog sledding to cross-country skiing, ice-skating to snowshoeing, not an hour has to go by without an adventure on hand. We recommend exploring the backcountry on cross-country skis or snowshoes. Grab a map and board the Morrissey Chairlift for some of the most remote terrain around. For less than two pints of your favorite beer you can try this awesome alternative to regular hiking. The snowshoes help with balance and speed when traversing through the thick snow, allowing you to wander with confidence. (Pro Tip: The Moonlight Tour comes with some pretty spectacular photo opps). But if you just want to get a massage and enjoy a glass of wine slope-side, that's totally cool, too.

Eat Your Heart Out

The best part of any vacation is the food, and Sun Peaks has plenty of places to indulge. Try the mac and cheese from Voyageur Bistro and grab a hot toddy at Umbrella Café. Order a bottle of wine and the BBQ ribs at the Steakhouse at Sun Peaks Lodge. Try a slice of the Runaway Lane Pizza, a monstrosity topped with pepperoni, pineapple, banana peppers, and mozzarella at Mountain High Pizza. The chili at Masa’s Bar and Grill will warm you up on a cold afternoon, while the cocktails and pints at Morrissey’s Public House will cool you down. It’s a great place to catch a game or bond with visitors from around the world.

How to Do It

From Seattle hop on a flight to Kamloops and then take the Sun Peaks Shuttle up to the mountain. Depending on your party size, you can stay in a standard hotel or a multi-room slope-side condo. If you're with a large party and want accessible restaurants, consider booking one of the two bedroom suites at the Sun Peaks Grand. There's need to rent a car, once you’re in the village you can pretty much walk anywhere you need to go.
