Deciding to travel to the Riviera Maya is always a good decision; however, choosing where to stay from the wide variety of hotels and resorts is not for the faint of heart. The destination, just south of Cancun hosts over 9000 hotels and, when you’re traveling with seasoned teen boys, you better make the right decision because you’re going to hear from them otherwise. After months of research, reading reviews and talking with fellow travelers, we all agreed that Dreams® Jade Resort & Spa seemed to have something for each of us, and we couldn’t have been any happier we did.
Immediately upon driving up to the resort entrance, you quickly start to smile and forget about the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Employees were waiting for us offering cool towels and a refreshing drink. As we quickly went through the check-in process and entered our ocean-view suite, those smiles began to grow and grow. The entire resort is nestled along the coastline, and the exquisite hotel grounds take advantage of this pristine location. Our room had all we could have wanted - a quiet setting, a spacious indoor and outdoor space and a jacuzzi overlooking the ocean. With 24-hour room service and a stocked minibar, the boys were all smiles. For myself, having a separate living space within our suite allowed us to never feel in too close quarters, and we each had the privacy we desired.
We quickly noticed that we were not the only ones smiling at Dreams Jade. The incredible staff provided service ‘round the clock – and always with a smile. Very often with all-inclusive resorts, things can get overwhelming and a bit chaotic, especially with COVID restrictions in place; however, we rarely had to wait at any restaurant, service was always prompt, and every employee we encountered was willing to go out of his or her way to help us. Looking to book an excursion and explore the town? Concierge was happy to provide recommendations and book something for you. Forgot extra sun lotion at home? They had that covered. Need workout advice for the gym area? They had someone willing to show you some new exercises too. It was all covered and always in the friendliest manner.
Whenever we travel, food is always one of, if not the most, important factor we take into consideration. It goes without saying that plenty of all-inclusive resorts fall short in this area and, even after reading all the positive reviews, we were still a bit skeptical. Rest assured, Dreams Jade has something for everyone but, even more importantly, it was all delicious. Breakfast buffets are always a hit with kids and this one didn’t fall short either. From a variety standpoint, I’m not sure we were even able to try everything offered after six mornings there. There was a wide array of options from the traditional (pancakes and bacon) to the healthy (can you say juice bar?) to the custom-made omelets, pastries and more. The real culinary highlight starts in the evening as Dreams Jade offers 5 unique restaurants, each focused on specific international cuisine. I normally don’t take my kids out for French food or Mediterranean food, so giving them an opportunity to try and enjoy these various cuisines, along with Asian, Italian, Mexican, was a bonus. Each dinner was better than the next and each menu, just like everything else at the resort, had something for everyone. The restaurants were refined, yet not stuffy. The service and pace were casual but not lazy. The food was just delicious, and each dinner was a highlight of each day. There really is nothing like being on a family vacation - away from work and school and everyday stress - and being able to sit back and bond with your kids. Dreams Jade provided night after night and, even after each meal, entertainment options that didn’t end. There was a host of nightly entertainment for those inclined, or you could enjoy the sounds of the crashing waves, the hotel lobby bar area or just head back up to the room.
Dreams Jade truly has something for everyone: from sitting at the pool or beach all day to participating in the all-day activity offerings or enjoying a spa day, you really can’t go wrong and, most importantly, it’s all done right. Centrally located with ease of access to Cancun International Airport, idyllic ocean views and a casual elegance permeating throughout the resort, deciding on a resort in Riviera Maya - - just got easier. Without a doubt, we will return to take advantage of even more that the hotel has to offer and create even more everlasting memories.
